    I think you have to split this up into two categories. The first would be the max age for a woman to bear a child, which should be determined by risk factors.

    As for fathers fathering biologically and individuals of both genders adopting, I think you have to think about where everyone will be in twenty and thirty years. There should be a goodly number of years between the last instance of the parent changing the child\'s diaper and the first instance of the child changing the parent\'s. I\'d put the cutoff at 50 for an infant, but in the case of adoption I\'d add years to the limit in accordance with the child\'s age (thus a 60-year-old could adopt a 10-year-old).

    That\'s my off-the-cuff response.

    Its not just about the fact that he may not be around for that long. It\'s pretty easy to see kids running the hams off adults in their prime... grandparents aren\'t cut out as full time carers in most cases, simply cause they may not keep up! The only other option for them may be to goose-guard, which can lead to all sorts of possible complexes for junior...
