Your kid needs to trust you, and empty, unfulfilled promises will chip away at that trust--and kids don\'t forget.  Think how thrilled they\'ll be when you pull up to the tee-ball game unexpectedly versus how disappointed they\'ll be if they\'re watching the parking lot the whole game, waiting for you to pull in, because you promised you\'d be there.
