Noodad: noodad » Should girls be allowed to play in boys Little League Baseball leagues?

  • Harry · 3 years ago
    Hell YES.

I see no problem with girls playing Little League at all. Although softball is nearly identical to baseball, it is a different sport.

I know that in our area (Boston) there have been cases of boys playing girl sports. They didn\'t have boys volley ball in this area when I was in high school, and I remember my school\'s volley ball team facing a squad with twin brothers in the state tournament. I also remember reading about a boy who played field hockey--wore the skirt and everything.

Yes. Girls should be allowed to play baseball. Duh. And GoBots are better than Transformers-on some levels.

I\'m not saying girls shouldn\'t play baseball. I saw \"A League of their Own\"! But what if a girl takes a spot of a more deserving boy on a boy\'s team just because people are afraid of being criticized?

It would be an issue for me if the sport were a full contact type, such as football. Guys tend to be more physicaly competitive, even little kids. However I sugest neither baseball or softball fit into that category so there seems to be no practical reason to segregate the teams at such a young stage. Taking that a bit further, anyopne know a definition for full contact sport is?

IMHO Western society has built up a lot of artificial sexual divisions between kids that usualy cause more harm than good. When I was a kid it made no difference to me whether I was playing against girls or boys, it\'s a decision made by adults \'for the good\'.

Girls should be able to play little league baseball.
I played little league baseball, and I pitched for my team.
I don\'t mean to brag, but I threw just as hard and acurate as any guy we played against.
And to those who want us to only play sofbtall...
Baseball and Softball are two totally different games.
And guys play softball, so why can\'t women play baseball?

Spring is coming up very soon. Baseball registration, at all levels, comes up now and in the next few week across North America.

Girls and their families can sign up at Little League; Cal Ripken or Babe Ruth; Protect our Nations’ Youth (PONY); if you are already skilled enough - from playing Baseball or Softball - you have the opportunity to try out for American Legion Baseball.

If you or the girl in your life are fortunate enough and interested in playing in All-Girls Baseball there are a few opportunities to consider in the USA, Canada and Australia.

If you have a local Recreation & Park league - or one of the other community organizations such as Boys & Girls Club or Police Activities League (PAL); YMCA or JCC: you have every right and opportunity to sign up for BASEBALL:

NO PERSON OR ORGANIZATION CAN PREVENT YOU FROM SIGNING UP FOR AND PLAYING HARDBALL BASEBALL IN ANY COMMUNITY LEAGUE THAT EITHER RECEIVES PUBLIC FUNDING OR PLAYS ON PUBLIC PROPERTY.- EVEN IF THEY HAVE A SOFTBALL PROGRAM JUST FOR GIRLS!

Also, in Middle and High School, PUBLIC OR PRIVATE, girls always have the option of trying out - but making the team is at the discretion of the coach whether a boy or girl tries out. Even though some states have rules that are there to intended on preventing girls from trying out - because they THINK having a Softball team is the same thing - but it isn’t: there are ways to challenge it at the school site level: you and your parents should talk with your school Principal and Athletic Director for their support.

Visit our site for links to many Youth Baseball and some All-girls Baseball leagues and tournament teams:

...and other informative links to help support a girl in her quest to play.

Help spread the word - the time is now for girls who want to / play Baseball!

In teeball i think its ok but as they get older boys develop physically faster while girls develop mentally faster. Boys are stronger, throw faster, and hit harder, usually, with the exception of a few. I dont think just any girl should play for safety issues but if you have that girl that is exceptional and can content with the boys I have no problem. I have an 8 year old son he is the smallest on his team but is the toughest and leads in batting all around. It is not size or gender that I am concerned about it is just that if you let a girl that is not physically ready she could get hurt baddly.

I'm a 14 year old girl, and this is my first year playing softball, and it stinks. I played baseball for 8 years and had a great time. I did one year of baberuth and decided to do softball this year. Baseball made me strong, for i was never on a team with another girl. I believer that this is the best thing that ever happened to me. Girls should be allowed to play baseball untill they decide to drop out. This will eventually happen for the boys will get too strong. I feel as long as a girl wants to be there she'll put in the effort and will be a great. A girl has to be 10 times the player of a normal boy to get the respect he will get.

I don't think it's a problem with girls playing baseball . Years agoe it was tougher fore girls in boys sports . That's why Kathryn Johnston had to change her name , and look like a boy . But these days a lot of girls are tomboys more that means there tougher , and making there mark in sports more known fore boys . Like I started head coaching soccer in 86 when I was still in high school . The best player I ever head coached was a girl . I h ave been head coaching soccer teaching karate , and stuff ever since with other peoples children . Five years agoe I got my own family with two girls Lizzie nine , and kaitlin five . Both girls are tomboys Lizzie as a green belt comming in first in both sparring , and forms in both tournaments she was in Kaitlin a white belt never competed . Both girls are in Gymnastics , Soccer , and stuff . Lizzie was the golie / left wing who took me to my teams first ever championchip this Spring. I make sure they remember my trademark speach " doing you'r best , and having fun comes first " because win or lose that comes first . So I think in a way times have changed with little girls you see more tougher tomboy girls comming out making there mark in boys sports . AS long as they remember whats most important I don't see a problem on letting them do what they have to do . One thing I learned about Lizzie going with my trademark speach she's pretty sensitive to her team school , and others . When we won the champinchip the other golie fealt bad , and just sat there after the game . I saw Lizzie run over , and but her arm around his shoulder to chear him up . Weather we won or lost that game that's a sign of a champion in my book , and mad sure she knew that . So if Lizzie tried to play baseball like I did in little league fire ten years as a catcher . knowing what she had done in the past even if she tried to be a catcher like I was which is one of the toughest positions I wouln't stop her , and let her enjoy it while she can .

If they can play well then yes of course they should. It's shame to let the talent go to waste.
