Automoblox (there are 6 models including a sports car, SUV, micro-car and pick-up) are an inspired blend of solid hardwood, translucent polycarbonate, metallic-look clear-coated plastic and colored rubber. Bodies are blonde lacquered wood. Roofs/windows are tinted plastic keyed to rubber tires that ride on wheels/rims that are brushed or chrome-look.

I (well, my son) has all seven cars and we (well, he) really enoys them. I think these will stay in the front of the toy cupboard for a long, long time.

Nice find! I just purchased the 7 car set from www.schooldelay.com who, from what I can tell, offeres the best price and currently they are offering free shipping! I was going to buy only one, but from what I see in your article it looks like you should have at least 2 so that you can interchange the parts. Will let you know what I think when I actually have them....but from the looks of it I will be very pleased!
