Interesting article, but I'm confused by the end.
"Dilation is not painful for her"?? Yes, it is
very painful!

Hi Susan,

I hesitate to disagree with a woman who may have experience childbirth firsthand but I am pretty sure it isnt the dilation that hurts, its the contractions that do.

Actually it is the contractions that pull the cervix open. So it is kind of a chicken or egg thing as to if the dilation itself hurts.
